Can a baroque mirror of wood in the bathroom?
Yes, a baroque mirror is fine in the bathroom!
There are, however, a few things you should pay attention to.
Can the mirror glass of a normal mirror resist moisture?
At Barokspiegel.nl we work with ECO Miralite Pure mirror glass.
We have tested this mirror glass ourselves and hung it outside for 7 years in all weathers.
After 7 years the mirror glass still looks perfect!
This is because the mirror glass is made without lead and copper, in Europe we are very innovative in this.
If you buy a bathroom mirror or mirror glass from the Far East or China, the chance of damage by moisture is much bigger because lead, copper and other aggressive substances are still used there.
So choose eco and sustainable mirror glass, good for people, animals and the environment and because of its long life also good for your own wallet.
Can a mirror with a wooden frame be used in the bathroom?
Yes, a baroque mirror® with a wooden frame can perfectly be used in a moist room.
At barokspiegel.nl the wooden mirror frames are coloured with gold leaf or silver leaf and then varnished which offers an excellent protection.
The ornaments are made with an innovative wood paste so that you will not suffer from shrinkage cracks.
Baroque-framed mirrors from the Far East or China often cannot withstand moisture. The wood is processed too quickly and often develops shrinkage cracks due to moisture and dryness.
The ornaments are often made of plaster, which is also less suitable.
Mirrors with frames made in Europe have a much higher quality standard.
Can I put mirror heating behind a framed mirror?
Yes, at barokspiegel.nl you can place mirror heating behind the mirror glass.
Because we assemble all mirrors we can deliver the mirror in such a way that you, or the craftsman, can realize it on installation.
Please note that the mirror heating plate is as big as the mirror surface.
Suppose the mirror is 60x120cm and the mirror heating 40x100cm, then you have a border of 10cm around that still gets condensation.
The mirror heating has to be placed directly on the back of the glass, there should be nothing in between.
Can I put lighting behind a framed mirror?
Yes, LED lighting can also be fitted behind a baroque or modern framed mirror.
Which backing can I use with a framed mirror in the bathroom?
A baroque or modern framed mirror is always made with a backing behind the glass.
At Barokspiegel® we work with a 4 mm MDF (pefc quality mark) backing.
It is also possible to choose a back wall that is even more moisture resistant, this can be arranged on request.
Again please be careful with mirrors from the Far East or China, they are usually delivered with a thin 2mm board back, this is absolutely not moisture proof and will bulge.
With mirror greetings,
The mirror stylist from Baroque Mirror
